After the School Bell Rings II: An Afterschool Storybook

 Documentary Shares the Stories of Youth & Families from Coast to Coast

Bright House Networks criss-crossed the country to talk to kids, parents, program staff, teachers, police offices and city leaders about what is happening after school, and the role afterschool programs play in their lives, and in their communities.  The resulting documentary, After the School Bell Rings: An Afterschool Storybook, features the personal stories of children and families in Alabama, California, Indiana, Michigan and Florida.  It is the the second installment in the After the School Bell Rings series.  Check out each segment here, including where it will be airing in Alabama, California, Indiana, Michigan and Florida.  And you can also view each section on our YouTube channel.

You can view additional footage of the three youth taped for the show, as they address a packed audience at the 2009 Afterschool for All Challenge “Breakfast of Champions” in Washington, D.C.  Greg Quintero from the Bakersfield, CA Police Activities League (PAL) and Lauren Savage and Lauryn Johnson from the City of Farmington Hills, MI Youth & Family Services, After School Program were selected by their communities to come to D.C. and represent their home towns in meetings with Members of Congress.  We followed Greg, Lauren and Lauryn during their trip to capture their experiences.

After the School Bell Rings is a production of Bright House Networks in partnership with the Afterschool Alliance.  Sun Sports aired it's debut on October 22 in Florida.  Bright House is running the show on its channels in Alabama, California, Indiana, Michigan and Florida.
