Congressional Caucuses

On March 3, 2005, Members of Congress announced that, in order to build support for afterschool programs and increase resources for quality afterschool care, they established the first-ever Afterschool Caucuses in the Senate and the House of Representatives.  Senators Christopher J. Dodd (D-CT) and John Ensign (R-NV) and Representatives Nita M. Lowey (D-NY) and Ralph Regula (R-OH) serve as co-chairs of the bipartisan Caucuses. The founding members of the Senate Afterschool Caucus are Senators Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and Susan Collins (R-ME); the founding members of the House Afterschool Caucus are Representative Dale Kildee (D-MI) and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL).

Ask your Senators and Representative to show their support for afterschool programs by joining the Afterschool Caucuses!   You may also want to read a letter from Sens. Dodd and Ensign asking members of the Senate to join the Afterschool Caucus and a letter from Reps. Lowey and Ros- Lehtinen asking members of the House to join the Afterschool Caucus.
