Across the country, Americans--from school principals and youth advocates to the mayor of Boston and a Seattle police chief--are registering their concern about President Bush's proposed 40% budget cut to the federal afterschool program. The cut would slash funding by $400 million and would deny afterschool programs to 571,000 children.
