American Rescue Plan: Utilizing National Service Members to Build Capacity

National service programs, such as AmeriCorps State and National, AmeriCorps VISTA, the National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC), and Senior Corps play a key role in supporting afterschool and summer learning programs through capacity-building projects and direct service. The American Rescue Plan includes an infusion of $1 billion dollars to expand national service opportunities, including adding new service positions that can help support afterschool and summer learning programs with additional staffing to serve more children and youth.

During this webinar, we’ll discuss how afterschool and summer learning programs can leverage national service members. We’ll share tips on how to apply for national service members – including how you can work with your state service commission or state afterschool network, ideas on member recruitment, and how to support national service members in your program. Additionally, a former AmeriCorps State and National member will share how she launched her afterschool career following a year of national service.
