Activity Bus Policy Reviews (Free Lance-Star, Virginia)
“Two months into the school year, Spotsylvania County middle and high school administrators report no problems getting students picked up, despite the elimination of activity buses.  However, Spotsylvania Middle and Spotsylvania High reported a drop in participation in after-school activities resulting from the buses' elimination.”
 
Students Find HOPE (Las Vegas Review-Journal, Nevada)
Homeless Outreach Program Education (HOPE) is supporting a growing number of homeless students, offering tutoring in an afterschool program, school supplies, toiletries and food.

Super Bowl Brings Arlington $2 Million For a Recreation Center For At-Risk Youths (Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Texas)
The NFL and the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee have begun fundraising to build a recreation center in Arlington.  The North Texas Youth Education Town, similar to those built in other Superbowl cities, will include an afterschool program, a gym and computer labs.

Program to Cultivate ‘The Next Generation of Wright Brothers’ (Dayton Daily News, Ohio)
Children in Dayton are taking part in a free afterschool program designed to increase interest in STEM careers before they reach high school, thanks to Time Warner Cable.
