Introducing New Afterschool Webinars

By Kamila Thigpen

**Updated**  Registration for "College Access 101" is now open!

As a part of our commitment to increasing investments in afterschool and expanding access to quality programs, the Afterschool Alliance is pleased to announce a new series of webinars!  Our new webinars cover a range of topics—from the latest research and policy updates to best practices and strategies used by some of the most innovative programs—and are designed to provide a forum for the afterschool community to share ideas and resources.

On Wednesday, August 15 at 2:30 p.m. EST, we invite you to join us for the first installment in our new webinar series, "College Access 101: How Afterschool Can Bridge the Gap."  We have invited representatives from two leading organizations dedicated to increasing the opportunities available to the most at-risk youth.  Amy Smitter, director of Institution Development at Campus Compact, and Jason Hamilton, executive director of Arkansas Commitment, will share how they have leveraged relationships with parents, high school staff, universities and peer mentors to support the transition from high school to college.

Can’t make it? Rest assured, there will be many more to come! Be sure to stay tuned for more information, and sign up for email updates about this and upcoming webinars. If you have suggestions for topics you would like to see covered in the future, we would love to hear from you.  Email your suggestions to kthigpen@afterschoolalliance.org.

We hope you will find these webinars useful in your efforts to provide and promote quality afterschool programs.
