Download the Afterschool for All petition and distribute at your next grathering or series of gatheres for members of your community to sign.  Set a goal for the number of signatures.  When you are done, send the signed petition to your elected officials and community leaders.  Use our sample cover letter; or, hand deliver the petition at a meeting or with students, during an educational field trip.

You can tailor this petition to your needs or simply use it as a reference tool to create your own community statement of support for afterschool. 

Be sure to send a copy of the list to the Afterschool Alliance New York office or to  mcoichy@afterschoolalliance.org so that we include all signers on the Afterschool for All List of Partners. Afterschool for All partner information is never shared nor sold.

The [residents/parents/students] of [community/program/school name(s)] have signed this petition to show how important afterschool programs are in our lives and to show our concern for their future.  We are asking you to support our petition and help fight for the afterschool programs that America's children, families and communities need.

Nine in ten Americans think afterschool programs are important, and they want government to invest in afterschool.  Afterschool programs keep kids safe, inspire them to learn and help working families.  We need quality, affordable programs for all children and families.  As studies show, kids in afterschool programs do better in school, achieve higher levels of education and have greater expectations for the future.  Moms and Dads have peace of mind, and are more productive workers knowing their children are cared for. 

Please join us and commit to the goal of Afterschool for All. We want to hear your ideas for expanding afterschool resources. Your support and leadership are so important.
