An integral component of Afterschool Alliance’s mission to ensure that all children have access to affordable, quality afterschool programs is research that assesses and examines the ways children spend their time during the afterschool hours, the opportunities afterschool programs provide the children and families in their communities, and the public support for these programs.

Summer 2022 Outlook From Program Providers (June 2022)

As the end of the school year approaches and families face another pandemic summer, this brief highlights findings from a new survey of 948 program providers, conducted between March 21 and April 12, 2022. The seventh wave of Afterschool Alliance’s Afterschool in the Time of COVID-19 series brings encouraging news that providers are more likely to report that they will be open and operating in person this summer. However, providers also anticipate challenges, with staffing being a primary concern.

The Afterschool Alliance, in partnership with MetLife Foundation, is proud to present the third of four issue briefs in our fourth series examining critical issues facing middle school youth and the vital role afterschool programs play in addressing these issues.
